Denkai Animal Sanctuary Headed into the Disaster Zone
Denkai Animal Sanctuary's Lucy Pribbenow, FEMA certified Disaster Response
coordinator will be heading to Piedmont, Missouri to aid in setting up
temporary shelter for animals displaced from the recent floods. The
Piedmont, MO shelter is completely underwater along with other area animal
shelters with no hope for recovery. People and animals in this and other
areas have told us that they are with out power.
The Sanctuary will be sending Ms. Pribbenow first to New Orleans, LA where
she will be picking up her van loaded with supplies already donated for
these shelters in need. Nanette Martin, world renowned photographer will
accompany Lucy on this expedition with video camera in hand, which will be
sent to our Sanctuary and continually updated on our website as this
rescue effort unfolds.
We need your help! Items we need donated to send Lucy and Nanette into the
disaster zone include: Airline Miles or money for 2 tickets to fly from
Denver International Airport to New Orleans, LA.
Gas money for the crew to get from New Orleans into Piedmont, MO and back
into Colorado over the next few weeks in the amount of $1000.00 and
food/grocery cards or donations towards this for our crew to eat with.

A Permanent Home on the Horizon for Needy Animals
In a matter of only weeks, Denkai Animal Sanctuary has successfully raised
$40,000 of a needed $60,000 towards a down payment which will secure a
permanent facility for the animals and youth that are aided on a daily
basis.
The Sanctuary is asking donors to step up to the plate in helping to
secure this permanent facility with only 4 weeks left to raise this
additional $20,000 in needed funding. Those interested in donating to this
worthy cause or learning more about the Sanctuary can visit Denkai's
website at: www.denkaisanctuary.org and read the Case for Support and

Property Deadline Looming for Animal Sanctuary
Denkai Animal Sanctuary officials are working non stop to raise a total of
$60,000 towards the down payment needed on a permanent facility located in
Grover, CO. The Sanctuary is being forced out by the current property
owners who plan to move into the current facility in April. Denkai's need
to make this purchase happen is great and urgent.
To date: $30,000 has been raised thanks to generous donations from the
nationwide public. Denkai is halfway towards the $60,000 goal that needs
to be raised by March 30, 2008. Details regarding the needed facility can
be viewed at: www.denkaisanctuary.org or in the attached Case for Support.
The obvious need for Denkai's large animal facility in Weld County as a
nationwide organization is overwhelming. The Sanctuary has provided rescue
to more than 1000 animals and with a permanent facility will have the
security and financial ability to help thousands more.
Denkai is asking the public to step up to the plate and help us to
continue our live-saving work by making a donation today.

Organization Affected by Local Horse Rescue Seizures
Denkai Animal Sanctuary is feeling the blow from local Animal Angels Horse
Rescue seizures. Denkai has been working non stop to raise more than
$60,000 towards a down payment on a permanent facility needed immediately
to secure a future for abandoned, abused and neglected animals and youth
at-risk in our community. Hearing directly from other individuals in the
community the concern that is now linked to other organizations locally
and nationwide regarding horse rescues and their instability in being able
to care for these animals properly has prompted Denkai officials to take
action.
It is very unfortunate that a few poorly planned organizations can ruin
the reputation of those that are properly operated. As not for profit
organizations, whether we are working towards bettering the lives of
children, animals, or helping to feed the hungry, we are faced with the
constant need for funding. The strength of an organization can be well
measured by its leader. Denkai consists of a highly varied and experienced
staff and is an organization that will continue to shine in our local and
nationwide communities.
It is our hope that donors will step up to the plate, research the
organizations that they are looking to fund and the people working behind
the scenes to make it all come together on a daily basis. Please remember
that not for profits have an incredibly hard job and are working to better
our local community on a daily basis.
Denkai has a proven track record, our need is urgent to secure a new
facility within the next 30 days and we can not do this without the
support of the public. $10,000 has been raised to date towards this
purchase.
Without our facility, there is not another option for large animals or
farmed animals in need.

Sanctuary Looks to Save Missouri Dogs
22 Missouri shelter puppies have been sentenced to die by lethal
injection.
Denkai Animal Sanctuary of Carr, CO is working together with Colorado
Animal Rescue Express, a Denver Based transport organization along with
rescuers in Missouri to save the lives of these precious babies.
Denkai needs help from the public in providing foster homes for these
puppies until they can be spay/neutered and homes found for them. The
Sanctuary estimates that this will take two to six weeks to accomplish.
Photos of the puppies in need can be viewed on our blog at: http://denkaisanctuary.blogspot.com/
with brief descriptions. We will have more detail when the puppies arrive.
How many the Sanctuary will be able to help depends on the number of
foster homes available.

URANIUM MINING FORCES ANIMAL SANCTUARY TO RELOCATE
$5,000.00 Donation received.
Denkai Animal Sanctuary is a nationwide 501(c)3 not for profit
corporation. Over the last four years, the Sanctuary has provided
assistance to animals in need locally from shelters such as Denver
Municiple Animal Shelter, the Humane Society of Weld County, Larimer
Humane Society, and others within the state of Colorado. The Sanctuary has
assisted in disaster response for Katrina animals, worked directly with
the Humane Society of the United States to Save 33 slaughter bound horses,
and most recently in saving more than 60 dogs from the San Diego Wildfire
disaster.
Not only have the animals benefitted from our thriving organization, but
community youth and the homeless. The Sanctuary has worked with more than
300 youth and three homeless in the local community, helping them to gain
confidence, learn compassion for others, and become productive members of
society.
Uranium Mining is threatening the lives of our Sanctuary animals, those
whom have come from a lifetime of abuse and neglect now face a much larger
fight. We need your help to secure a permanent facility in order to
continue our good work. Denkai Animal Sanctuary provides a home for more
than 100 domestic animals at any given time, the bulk of these are
livestock, horses, llamas, animals that will most likely be poisoned by
byproducts from the proposed uranium mining. The board of directors for
the Sanctuary have located a permanent parcel of land, that would keep its
animals and people safe. Please visit our website at:
www.denkaisanctuary.org for details on this location. This facility would
allow the sanctuary to become completely self-sustaining financially and
otherwise. Help is desperately needed to fund this effort and keep our
community facility vibrant and all involved healthy. Denkai needs to raise
at total of $500,000.00, $80,000.00 needs to be raised immediately to
secure this new facility as a permanent purchased location and begin the
moving process. The Sanctuary has 30 days to complete the task of raising
$80,000. To date a total of $5,000.00 has been raised.

URANIUM MINING FORCES ANIMAL SANCTUARY TO RELOCATE
Denkai Animal Sanctuary is located near Carr Colorado, just 2 miles
north of more than 10 test wells that have been drilled for Powertech's
proposed Uranium mining sites. Sanctuary staff have watched closely over
the last year as Powertech employees have set up drill rigs, purchased
brand new parcels of property, even the Sanctuary's past property near
Nunn, CO. This particular site , the Sanctuary's past home, will be used
as an open pit mine if Powertech has their way. This is a very scary
reality and though officials in surrounding counties are opposed to it, no
word has come from weld county's board of commissioners other than a quick
state mentregarding the amount of economy that this mining will bring to
the county.
Uranium poses serious health risks to both humans and animals along
with the environment. Byproducts are cancer-causing and selenium kills
livestock. (visit www.nunnglow.com for details) Denkai Animal Sanctuary

bulk of these are livestock, horses, llamas, animals that will most likely
be poisoned by byproducts from the proposed uranium mining. The board of

from uranium mining that would keep its animals and people safe. This
property is located near Grover, CO on 640 acres. This facility would

This Sanctuary provides adoption
services and a permanent home for close to 90 animals including
horses, llamas, pot bellied pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, turkeys,
dogs and even a few cats.
We operate through kind
volunteers, and in turn give them the opportunity to foster
compassion for these abused and neglected animals by helping with
their maintenance and rehabilitation. We also work with several
local educational establishments and have worked with mentally and
physically challenged adults and kids. We believe in helping these
animals and giving back to the community.
